The Power Of Words and the Art of letting Go

Are you a leader or a follower? This question is one most people would rather avoid, as such the debate on who we really are and what we truly need continues.  In order to better understand which one of the two are we, and which can serve us best, we need to take a minute to look at the root of things.  At the root of this long debated question, lies words.  Words are power and for those of you who do not believe in the power of words, I invite you to take a deeper look at how words can help build or hurt others; words can do more than just that….

1) The words we use every single day have great impact:

How many of us say “yes” when we really mean to say “no”?  Many of us tend to do this many times during the day.  Too many people tend to say yes when they really want to say no, out of fear they may be labeled “rude” or  fear of hurting someone else’s feelings by being honest in their opinion about a particular thing, person or subject.   However in simply agreeing when we would rather not, or simply denying our own beliefs or opinions in exchange for approval, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to experience healthy relationships (whether filial, romantic, or otherwise). We don’t have to be rude on how we say things; honesty about how we really feel will remain the best policy; it comes down to how we say things instead of denying ourselves by denying our opinions or feelings.

Words empower us because they are vibrations, as such we can use the power of words to prime our brain; our inner dialogue has a tremendous effect on how we see life. The fear on how we use our words resides in people erroneously believing they have no power over their thoughts. People are so used to the process of knee jerk thinking, they assume there is no process to it.  The thinking process is no different than the walking process, when we were little someone taught us to walk, then we learned to run; it did not happen automatically.  

Our inner dialogue comes from our inner thoughts, which come from memory. If we choose to reprogram our mind then our inner dialogue will change. This process like learning to walk is at first a conscious one, over time it becomes a reflexive one.  Unlike negative dialogue, positive dialogue brings with it inner power which in turn helps us manifest better results in our lives–but you got to believe the words, and in order to do so, it’s not enough to simply recite “nice” words and negate the other side–you’ve got to be willing to get real with yourself.

It does not matter how much you work on your outside, if your inner dialogue or beliefs are negative ones, nothing you achieve will satisfy you because your mind BELIEVES what you tell it most; if your inner dialogue is toxic, it will believe that.  If you choose to simply recite nice words without doing the work, your negative thoughts or patterns of behavior will continue; they will simply be masked by a smile and pleasantries; because your subconscious is like a perfect computer which recognizes incoherencies–if your thoughts, words and actions do not align, then no amount of “nice” words will suffice.

Also consider this when buying into the idea of self denial: repeating/preaching nice things while the actions are different.  Anything you think you are achieving with repetition of nice words while masquerading negative inner dialogue, is nothing in comparison to what you could achieve with a real positive inner dialogue–then your energy would maximize as it does not have to protect a mask; you would be able to use your energy more efficiently.

A good way of changing our thinking pattern is to pay attention to to things we read, watch, listen to, and the people we surround ourselves with.  Is not the amount of people in your personal life that matter, is the quality of the connection.

If you surround yourself with people whose only concern is to gossip, then you are not going to grow. People who have a tendency to gossip a lot, usually lead empty lives.  The only things you will get from those interactions is the learning of negative behavior. Small talk is natural among all of us; however, small talk isn’t the same as focusing on negatively talking about someone else– often saying things one would not be willing to say directly to the person who is being the subject of such malicious conversations.  Small talk allows us to gently and at our own pace, interact with others; testing ground; it is a gentle back and forth of one’s own life and the life of the person who is interacting with us during the conversation–likes, opinions, beliefs, activities.  Small talk is good, however if that is all you have with the people you are constantly surrounded with, then you are not being real with yourself and neither are they; such dynamic leaves no room  for improvement.

Another easy way of improving our lives is by paying close attention to our morning routines.  Many people start their day by reading the newspaper which is usually full of negative events. What happens when doing so, is your brain gets prime into thinking the world is an unsafe place in which you need to be careful and not trust anyone. It can desensitize you; it can turn you into a sarcastic person who only expects the worst.

I am in no way suggesting one should not be informed, what I am saying however, is before you reach for something negative make sure you are grounded. One can do this by starting the morning priming your brain in a positive way; be it meditating, affirmations, positive readings or moving into your body (running, walking, yoga, etc.) Priming your brain positively first, will help you take on the challenges of the day without losing yourself; we become expressions of that which we are most connected with.

Words are vibrations; they are sounds. Our whole universe is a big symphony, therefore one needs to try to harmonize to that symphony.  As explained above some people do this by rewiring their brain, by moving into their body or giving yourself a new name.

Names are powerful. Most of us feel the name we were given at birth is the one we should have. Let me remind you again, words are sounds, they are vibrations and they have a numerical order which matches our universe’s order. The Kabbalah teaches about all of these, as to our ancients all this knowledge was part of their every day lives. Presently one can get a light idea of the power of words and numbers by studying Numerology.

Names are representations or symbols, the key lies in the association. If you call yourself a certain name which carries a positive association, that  new and positive association primes your brain; so long as you are doing the work to go with it.  It subconsciously helps us remember who we really are at our core; your name becomes a reflection of you vs a reflection of who your parents or others wanted you to be.

In this day an age it is evident the process of awakening is taking place; we are moving from a doctrinaire estate into an spiritual one.  A doctrine leaves no room for questioning, any questions are limited within specific norms.  On the other hand spirituality welcomes the search, it embraces knowledge as it recognizes how the more you learn and seek, the more you come to understand yourself, as such your understanding of the world around you grows.  Spirituality does not need religion, however one can find spiritual people who live coherently within any religious or other particular group, as spirituality is deeply personal–“By their fruits you will know them”

Many people are spreading more and more positive thoughts yet without radical action the impact of that which is being shared will only be minimal; so let’s start dropping the masks and becoming real about who we are–we don’t have to be perfect, we just have to be ourselves; from there we can start the healing process.

2.- Thoughts and beliefs: “Change your thoughts, to change your mind”.

We currently live in a world that is divided, where the false ego matters more than the heart and the building of real and healthy ego; we need an ego to survive, just not a false one.
The secret lies on thinking less and doing more–I am not referring to the acquiring of knowledge; I am talking about “knee jerk thinking reaction” which I talked about in the previous paragraphs–this is called radical action.

During our first 7 years we are programmed, whatever we are taught becomes not only the foundation for how we will see the world but also our habits. Habits become our subconscious behavior; which construct 95% of our actions. See the correlation? Only 5% of our actions are conscious.

We need to question our beliefs. Do the beliefs you have emanate from you or did someone teach you? Who taught you not to talk to certain kind of people? Who taught you what is right and what is wrong?… is it right? Is it wrong?  Taking a closer look at our pattern of thinking is the way to discover who we are; not who we think we are but who we really are at our core.

The most liberating feeling arises when we realize we are not victims of our circumstances but co-creators of our reality.
Even when bad things happen to us, we are not victims.  Victims cannot help themselves; if we take that mentality then others will victimize us even more.  If we look at ourselves as co-creators then we have the power.  We cannot change what happened but we can change how we react to it and hence be able to change our future.

Epigenetics (Epi; from the Greek word meaning above) teaches us how our thoughts, environment and perceptions, influences our genes; this means we can choose to be anything we want.   It leaves no room to carry the mistakes of others in your family tree or your past. You can therefore be anything you want to be, it depends on how badly you want it.

Again the key lies in questioning your belief system. There are so much lies in what has been taught to us. We need to examine how the things we were taught assists us on who we are becoming. If you see what you have learned or are learning is not helping you to develop, then you have the choice to leave that behind and focus your time on something more productive.

Your time is valuable, do not waste it.   Do not waste your time on things that robotize you.  Power lies on accomplishing what you really want!

We need to learn to tune to the magick of the moment; its is a skill that takes time to learn but worth trying every day, as too many of us are stuck in the past or stuck worrying about the future. We need to recognize the past cannot be changed and the future will only be the result of today, so focus on today! In now way I am trying to dismiss what happened to you or your own actions; what I mean is this…use them as lessons and energy to propel you forward in life vs. keeping you chained–it takes time; no one in their right mind is expecting you to do this overnight.

The key to all of this comes down to accepting who you are, which is the result of questioning your beliefs. Once you start questioning your beliefs (the roots of it all) then you start discovering and separating who you are from what others taught you to be. The more you start to rediscover the real you, the more fear starts to disappear and you start accepting your own uniqueness and realizing… You have no competition!

Everyone is here for a different purpose. Stay focus on you! Have fun but keep in mind no one will do the work needed but yourself.  

Life is not a race…. so breathe.  For some of us it can be so liberating to take a breath; a real one after years and years of impose beliefs and fears, it can be so liberating to let go. You let go of years of baggage that wasn’t even yours, which leaves you feeling lighter and you learn to value yourself more and to stand up when needed.

We are taught to live for others, to put so much effort on the image others have of us, at the end all we end up with, is just false ideas of who we are.  Do not live apologizing for your existence, choose to be you!

Work on developing a healthy but accurate perception of yourself and the world; this will come as a result of embracing yourself, which lies in questioning your beliefs–one step builds another.

3.-Radical Action.-  The action of expanding; bringing an idea into reality. The ability to build momentum, which propels you to move forward. Radical action is a concept that governments are very familiar with.

The word government emanates from the Latin “to govern your mind” or in plain words “to control your mind” …so why not take radical action towards governing your own mind?

The success to achieving radical action lies not on thinking of an idea and then waiting for others to make it happen. It lies in realizing all the resources lie within you…you have to make it happen.
You have to embrace the power of now and take the steps to bring your idea to reality.

In today’s age; because we live in reverse; radical action is a concept mostly used by those wishing to control or take advantage.
Radical action should be something each one of us puts into use, however it should not leave you depleted, bitter, angry or sarcastic.

Let us not confuse a faster moving society with a more productive, happier society. True progress does not comes from only one aspect of self; production.

If we need to impress others with how much we have, or if we need to be liked and accepted by everyone, then we are failing. No matter how much you have or you think you are “liked” you are dependent on your material things or the opinion of others to define who you are.
What if you lose it all?….would you stop being you? This is why many “successful” people once they fail , cannot get up again; others see them as a failures, and because they placed so much value on the opinion of others they believe they are a failure.

A successful society may not move as fast, but is one where people have peace and are more connected with themselves and their surroundings.

Is not about how boisterous you are but how true you are to yourself.  Is about having the courage to face your shadow, because doing so requires mighty strength but the rewards are unsurmountable.

Ask yourself, how much have you evolved as a person. If you lost it all today would you still have a sense of self or would it break you down completely? These questions are not presented to you in order to get you down, on the contrary they are meant to help you become introspective and start claiming your life.
