Lost

**This is a rough copy; still deciding on the best title to describe it.

He looked at his reflection in the mirror

Lost within the depth of his own eyes

Eyes which expressed sadness and anger

An empty soul whose heart felt broken

His reflection no longer meant something

For he felt like the walking dead…

A ghost…

A shadow within the immensity of the night

He looked at himself,

The silence felt overwhelming

His life had reduce itself to this…

Silent days and silent nights.

He had loved and lost

His heart cried in silence

Silent screams wanting to spring from his soul

The pain had transformed his essence

His pride no longer lived there

Disappointment ran through his veins

He had lost it all

He’d given himself to those kisses

To those caresses he now craves to feel

With one kiss she could bewitch her pray

Like the light of the moon in all its splendor

She had him under his spell

He was hers to command

He yearned to be lost under her once more,

To look at her eyes as she bounced freely

To hold her hills while his mind succumbs to ecstasy

Moments of sweet tenderness and lust

She had brought him back to life

She helped him to believe and live

Yet with one final word she’d taken his life

He couldn’t understand what had happened

When did she stop loving him?

When did the fire become ice?

Now, only her memory keeps him alive

Now he lays at night,

Imagining his lips once more touching hers

The spell of burning nights imprinted in his memory

Memories which burned his body

Keeping him warm during the cold empty nights

He aches to hear her voice

His hands tremble desiring to touch her once more

Her naked body had been his temple

Her arms a place where he found refuge

His sanity was falling into the labyrinth of madness

In which moment did he lose his compass?

He had given more than his soul

He had given his own life.
